Volunteer tutors wanted for literacy program

PORTLAND, Ore. – The Volunteer Literacy Tutoring Program at º£ÌÄÖ±²¥, in conjunction with other local literacy organizations, is searching for a few good volunteer tutors. The program needs volunteers to help adult immigrants and refugees learn English and to assist both native and non-native English speakers in improving their basic literacy skills. Also, volunteers may prepare students for the GED or high school equivalency exam. Training for tutoring º£ÌÄÖ±²¥ will take place from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Saturdays, Jan. 22 and Jan. 29 º£ÌÄÖ±²¥s Southeast Center (2305 S.E. 82nd Ave.).
