Details about this class
Welcome to math 111. The goal of my teaching is active learning. One of my objectives in teaching is to facilitate learning by helping students to gain the necessary skills to take control of and become active participants in their own learning. Our class will contain a lab component where students work together with other students to engage with the material and develop a deeper understanding of the material. The book for this class is a free OER and we will discuss how to access it during class.
This class is NOT a remote learning course and will be meeting Face to Face for In-Person Learning all term. I look forward to meeting and working with each of you very soon!
Technology
We will use Desmos and Amplify in class. Calculators will be provided when needed but a TI-30XS Multiview is a good option if you want to purchase a calculator. Our computer homework system will be on My Open Math. Students will need access to computers outside of class to work on the homework.
No show policy
Your instructor can mark you as a "no show" if you do not participate in your class during the first week. This will remove you from the class.
