There will be two proctored exams (Midterm and Final). Exam sessions will be scheduled remotely via Zoom. If you aren't able to attend these sessions, you'll be able to schedule an alternative time at a college testing center.

I recommend that you do NOT purchase the textbook that listed at the Bookstore for this class. The content of the textbook is accessible for FREE online. If you discover that you would prefer to have a hard-copy of the textbook, you can always purchase it but I don't think you will need it so I encourage you to wait until our class starts before purchasing the textbook.

I've created "online lecture notes" for this class, and I've recorded "videos of class notes": each week you'll be directed to a few 'chapters' of online lecture notes and couple of video recordings that you can use to familiarize yourself with the material. Then I'll suggest "practice problems" from our free online textbook and give you access to a "practice worksheet" that you can use to make sure that you understand the concepts and know how to solve relevant problems. At the end of each week, there will be a "graded worksheet" due as well as a short quiz -- except for Week 5 and Finals Week when we'll have a Midterm and Final Exam.

Another important thing to consider is that MTH 112 is the 2nd course in a two-course Precalculus sequence that starts with MTH 111. There are some topics that we'll study as an "extension of what we learned in MTH 111" and it's much more pleasant to confront those topics if you're familiar what was studied in MTH 111.  Even more important: the MTH 111/112 Precalculus sequence is designed to prepare students for Calculus, and the content in MTH 111 is a big part of that. So I encourage caution if you're considering skipping MTH 111 -- if you took a comparable course at an other college/school then that should be fine but, if you don't think you have taken a precalculus course before (or if you have taken such a course before but it was many years ago and have probably forgotten most of it), you may be better off starting with MTH 111, the first course in the Precalculus sequence.

To complete the weekly worksheets, you will need to be able to print the assignment documents onto paper, complete them by-hand with a pencil, scan your completed assignments, and save them as PDFs. This option can also be accomplished using a touchable tablet on which you can hand-write "electronically" onto PDFs.  (If you don't have a printer or a tablet, you can write your answers onto blank paper that you've organized in the same way as the provided assignment document and then scan to create a PDF.) If you don't have access to a proper scanner, you can use a free app for your smart phone that can convert photos of your completed assignments into PDFs.
