Central questions to be addressed in class include: What does it mean to lead a good life? How do duty and goodness relate to right and wrong? Is there an objective, universal moral code for all or is moral relativism a better view of morality? Lastly, the course will explore contemporary moral problems such as euthanasia, obligations to future generations, and the moral status of animals. 

Although there is a required textbook for this course, students can get by with either the 5th, or even the 4th, edition. Instructor can provide temporary copies of any required readings not included in these two previous editions. Students interested in using an earlier edition will likely need to purchase it themselves as the PCC bookstore may not stock earlier editions. However, many 4th and 5th editions are widely available on the internet, and many are under $10.

All that is required is a stable internet connection with sufficient bandwidth, and a computer with up to date software compatible with D2L Brightspace.
