Getting started

Whether you鈥檙e a PCC employee or a colleague at another institution, this page is here to help you explore, start, and grow academic partnerships. You鈥檒l also find guidance on how to begin or continue conversations and move your ideas forward.

PCC Faculty and Administrators

If you are interested in starting discussions with colleagues at another college about a possible academic partnership with PCC, or have informally engaged in such discussions already, we encourage you to contact us! Depending on the type of partnership, the process may be quite simple or more complex, but in general the following steps are involved:

  1. Review the Definitions and Guidelines.
  2. Check to see if a university is already accepting PCC’s courses in a specific major, and/or if they have transfer guides on their website for PCC students. If so, we may not need a signed agreement! See Portland State University’s as an example of what we mean by this.
  3. Contact the Articulation and Transfer Agreement Coordinator to discuss your ideas, review any questions you may have, and discuss next steps.
  4. Depending on the type of partnership, a meeting with the principal players 海棠直播 and the prospective partner institution may be desirable. We can assist with arranging such a meeting.
  5. The Curriculum Office will coordinate the process of drafting and circulating any partnership documents for review, discussion, and (where required) signatures.
  6. Once finalized, the Curriculum Office manages the updating and review of any formal partnership documents, in consultation with all the stakeholders and (where needed) signatories.

External Partners

If you are interested in starting discussions about a possible academic partnership with PCC, or have informally engaged in such discussions already, we encourage you to contact us! Please also consider the following:

  1. Review the聽Definitions and Guidelines, and consider which option or options for partnership might be the best fit for your institution and PCC.
  2. In general, we consider a combination of the following factors for potential partnerships:
    • Benefit to PCC students: How will the agreement or partnership benefit PCC students beyond what is already available to them without a formal agreement? Student benefits may include but are not limited to:
      • Guaranteed transfer of PCC credits towards a program of study,聽in ways not available in the absence of the agreement.
      • Scholarship opportunities and/or reduced tuition rates for PCC students admitted under the agreement that makes the cost of attendance competitive with Oregon public universities.
      • Unique or specialized program offerings not available at most Oregon public universities.
    • Access and affordability: Is the program offered in or near Oregon, and/or are there online options? How does the program cost compare to existing PCC partnerships?
    • Accreditation: Is the program regionally and/or nationally accredited?
  3. If a formal agreement is not required, but your institution offers transfer guides for PCC students, please let us know! We can add links to these to our webpages as appropriate.
