PCC faculty liaison roles and responsibilities
Faculty liaisons play a crucial role in supporting both High School Dual Credit Faculty and PCC Academic departments. As subject matter experts, they ensure course alignment, maintain instructional quality, and foster collaboration between high school and college faculty.
PCC Faculty Liaisons are paired with high school dual credit faculty during the course approval stage, after they have been approved by the Program and Pathway Deans.
Responsibilities
Before the course approval
- Connection: Connect with the newly approved high school faculty to review the course, course requirements, CCOGs, etc.
- Syllabus development: Assist high school faculty in creating syllabi that meet PCC standards by providing examples as needed.
- Resource sharing: Offer sample syllabi, exams, textbooks, and other course materials upon request.
- Syllabus review: Evaluate and approve the submitted syllabi to ensure they align with PCC requirements.
- Articulation agreement: Sign the Dual Credit articulation agreement to formalize the course offering.
After the course approval
- Course alignment: Ensure the Dual Credit course reflects PCC’s pedagogical and theoretical standards during reviews and site visits.
- Site visits: Schedule classroom observations using the PCC Dual Credit Site Observation Form.
Ongoing
- Support Course Integrity and Rigor: Collaborate with high school faculty to ensure that Dual Credit courses maintain alignment with PCC鈥檚 curriculum, student learning outcomes, and instructional standards.
- Conduct Classroom Observations: Perform at least one classroom observation per course section annually (in person or virtually), as required by Oregon Dual Credit Standards.聽
- Foster Professional Collaboration: Participate in or help coordinate Professional Learning Communities (PLCs) when applicable, and encourage shared instructional strategies, assessment tools, and best practices among Dual Credit High School Faculty and PCC faculty.
